Submit a News Story
What it is
Any signed-in member writes a news story in a proper editor, with photos dropped inline, and submits it. An AI gate publishes clean stories straight to the news site or holds them for the curator queue.
Who it serves
Ordinary club members with a story to tell, and the curators downstream. A public no-sign-in version (the ADD NEWS button on news.croquetqld.org) is already live for non-members.
How it works
Nobody collects stories by email and retypes them into a publishing system. Members author directly, and the AI gate plus curator queue replace a human first-pass editor. It also fixes the old broken path where a public share form stranded around 74 submissions with no route to publication.
- Sign in to MyCroquet and open Submit a news story.
- Write the story; drop photos in as you go. A draft survives a page refresh.
- Submit. It publishes, or a curator reviews it and sends feedback if it needs work.
How it hits the ideals and aims
Enjoy croquet: telling your club's story is part of the fun. Keep it simple: write, add photos, submit. Aims: 2 Promote Croquet Externally, 3 Grow & Engage Members, 4 Support Clubs.
The benefit for croquet
More club voices on the news site, with published articles protected from accidental damage by staged edits.
Results so far
Not yet measured for the member version. The public ADD NEWS cousin shipped 9 July 2026 and had five usability improvements the next day (including phone photo upload and draft restore); first real guest submissions awaited.
Status: member module on trial (staging); public ADD NEWS live on the news site. As at 2026-07-11.
